Get Ready for Japan training programme

Programme Dates:

  • June 17, 2024, to July 12, 2024
    • June 17-21, 2024: Mandatory online week, open to SMEs and large companies.
    • July 8-12, 2024: Optional on-site week in Tokyo, exclusively for SMEs that completed the online phase.

Programme Objectives: „Get Ready for Japan” is aimed at helping participants comprehensively understand Japanese business practices and communication styles, identify opportunities for successful business partnerships, gain insights into the Japanese companies’ decision-making process, and strengthen or establish new relationships with Japanese clients.

Programme Content:

  • For SMEs and Large Companies: The initial phase is a mandatory online programme scheduled from June 17-21, 2024. It involves immersive virtual case studies and cross-cultural lectures to provide deep insights into the Japanese business environment.
  • For SMEs: The second phase offers an optional on-site programme in Tokyo from July 8-12, 2024, for business-to-business meetings with potential Japanese partners. This phase is supported by the EU-Japan Centre, with a limit of 14 participants.

Participant Profile: Ideal for managers and executives from SMEs in the EU or associated countries, focusing on those with strategic interests in Japan. While large companies can apply, priority is given to SMEs.

Eligibility: Applicants must not have previously participated in this programme, be employed by a juridical person in eligible countries, have employer support, and be able to attend the entire first-week online. Proficiency in English and industry experience are required.

Selection and Costs: Selection is based on company strategy towards Japan and personal motivation. While the EU-Japan Centre covers training expenses, participants are responsible for their travel and living costs in Japan. A €1000 deposit is required, refundable for SME participants upon submission of a post-event report (non-refundable for large companies).
