Biography
Prof. Dan Balteanu is a Member of the Romanian Academy, Director of the Institute of Geography, and Chair of the Romanian National Committee for ICSU, UN, Future Earth Programme – Research for Global Sustainability. He is a senior researcher at the Institute of Geography, PhD supervisor and professor at University of Bucharest. His academic competences are in the field of the Environmental Geography with a focus on the human-environment interaction, natural and technological hazards, land use/land cover change, climate change-related impacts. He is the author and editor of over 15 volumes and more than 200 scientific papers published in national and international journals, many of them dealing with the impact of extreme climate events on the environment. Prof. Balteanu coordinated more than 20 national and international projects in the field of environmental sciences.
