Open Applications: Smart Factory & Robotics Business Mission to Tokyo, February 2027

The EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation is recruiting SMEs for its Smart Factory & Robotics Business Mission in Japan 2027, taking place in Tokyo from 15 to 19 February 2027. The mission is aimed at companies active in robotics, smart factory solutions, industrial automation, digital manufacturing, and related enabling technologies looking to explore the Japanese market directly.

Mission Details

  • Dates: 15–19 February 2027
  • Application deadline: 22 October 2026
  • Venue: Tokyo Big Sight, Tokyo, Japan
  • Number of participants: up to 16 companies

The mission is built around participation in Smart Factory Expo 2027, part of Factory Innovation Week — one of Japan’s major industrial technology trade fairs. Selected companies will exhibit within the EU-Japan Centre’s joint booth, meet Japanese companies and industry stakeholders, and explore partnership and investment opportunities in one of the world’s most advanced manufacturing markets.

Who it’s for

The mission is particularly relevant for SMEs active in: industrial robotics, collaborative robots, smart factory solutions, factory automation, IoT and IIoT solutions, AI-supported production systems, digital manufacturing, sensors, vision systems, control technologies, SCADA systems, autonomous transport, and sustainable manufacturing solutions.

Selected participants receive, through the EU-Japan Centre:

  • Exhibition space within the EU-Japan Centre booth
  • Tailored 1-to-1 meeting support with Japanese counterparts
  • Interpretation support at the booth and on the trade fair floor
  • Translation and printing support for the company profile/poster
  • Online business and market training modules ahead of the mission
  • Hotel accommodation during the mission period
  • On-demand IP-related advice and a Public Procurement Tender Scan

What participants cover

Travel to and from Japan, local transportation, meals, and other living expenses. A refundable deposit and, where applicable, a contribution fee also apply — full terms are detailed on the mission page.
